Handy Tips
Make a chalkboard feature wall look nice and black again...
Solution: we recently painted a chalkboard wall in the office and after using the chalkboard duster a couple of times, the wall was chalky and didn’t look as striking as it first did when we wrote on it fresh.
Use Coca Cola on a cloth instead of the duster and it will remove the chalk rather than moving it around! Who would have guessed?!
Make white tops look lovely and white again...
Solution: Wash only whites together in the wash (in case colours leak from other clothes). After filling the washing machine and putting the clothes in, pause the cycle. Use one to two capfuls of Napisan in addition to your normal washing powder and leave to soak for at least 24 hours in the machine. If it’s not bright enough, repeat the above procedure.
Your whites should look lovely, bright and fresh!
Fix food splattered inside the microwave...
Solution: mix ½ cup of white vinegar, 1 cup of water and 1 tablespoon of bicarb soda in a large bowl. Put the bowl in the microwave without a lid on and cook on high for a few minutes, allowing the mixture to boil, but not boil over. While the microwave is warm and steamy, wipe the interior down with a cloth.
Should be good as new!
Clean the inside of a blender...
Solution: Add 2 teaspoons of bicarb soda and ½ cup of vinegar and then switch the blender on. Make sure the lid is on or you’ll be cleaning the whole kitchen! Then rinse with water.
No more crusties in the bottom of the blender :-)
Kill dust mites...
Solution: Put a tea bag into a spray bottle filled with cold water, let it sit for 3 minutes and then lightly spray the liquid over the mattress. The tannins in the tea kill the mites. And no matter how clean you are you can get bed bugs. Rub tea tree oil onto your fingers and wipe around the edge of the mattress. Use surface insecticide spray over edges and ends of the bed, but not over the top. Do not use just before you are about to use the bed either.
Good night, sleep tight! Don’t let the mites bite anymore
